The very first time I heard Paradise by Out of Eden, I wept.
I didn’t shed a few tears as the song played. I wept uncontrollably. I was on midterm break from boarding school. I was in JSS2. It was in 2003.
For the first time I began to look at life a little bit differently. I was a very stubborn child (my siblings can confirm that) and I was very self centered. I was used to looking at life as though I was living for myself. For the very first time, I realized that there was so much more than the things I wanted. I began to see things a bit differently.
Fast forward to now, this song still gets me. It is a constant reminder that I am here for a reason. I am not here just to get fame and money. I am here to make a difference and affect the lives of people I come across.
Paradise by Out of Eden is still my Jam. It is a constant reminder of the things I need to do and the person I need to be.
If I had a dollar for every heart that’s broken
For every word of love unspoken
For every childhood dream that’s never realize
If I had a penny for all the wrong we’re doing
And all the ways we could be moving on
Maybe I could buy you paradise
Just to see some hope in your eyes
