I have known Chiago since 2006. It was my first year in Covenant University. It was the time I joined Youth With a Purpose (YWAP). It was the time I got to meet other amazing people: Akor, Femi, Phil, Adot, Juliet, Uche.
I met Chiwunma when she started dating Chiago in 2007. Dude was ecstatic and had some huge crush. He acted like a child who was tasting candy for the first time. He gushed and smiled and couldn’t contain the joy of meeting someone that he actually liked.
A lot of people didn’t think it would last. In fact, many even called it one of “those CU relationships” (those ones that were lovey-dovey while school was in session and strangers outside the school’s walls). I mean, like kids protective of their older brother, no one wanted the strange girl to come and take him away. No one was exactly a fan of this new girl and some people just wanted a chance to say “I told you so”
And so a year passed, and then two years and we all found ourselves loving the same things Chiago saw in her. Her kind heart. The love she showed everyone who came her way. Her ability to give herself and put others first and by the third year Chiwunma and Chiago became one of “those CU couples” we were rooting for. The ones we felt had hope for longevity outside the school walls.
So here we are now, 6 years down the line and Chiwunma and Chiago have said I do. The “stone” that the builders rejected has become the “cornerstone for relationships”. We all want and are fans of their love: a love so pure and true.
And so here is wishing Chiwi and Chiago, a happy, fruitful and blessed married life.
We love you Chiawi 😀
