Work Diaries 106: A Glimpse into the Indian Culture

Posted on Posted in Work Diaries

I haven’t done this IN FOREVER but I promise I will be better.

Last week I got a chance to cover the Navaratri festival at the 1004 Estates in Lagos. It is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga and I was a bit hesitant when I was asked to cover it. I had intended to spend my Saturday night with my friends but work called and I had to heed the call.

I got to the venue and I knew I was in for a treat. The basketball court had been transformed with bright lights and a few kids were already dressed in their full regalia; dancing to the music. It was fascinating to see how even though they were miles away from their country; they had their culture in their hearts. Check out my report on the Navaratri celebrations in Lagos and learn a little about the culture, tradition and belief of Indians.
